THE DEBT
It's written; "seek yee first the kingdom of God,
and all things will be provided."
I once thought this a little odd, and
it left me undecided.
I thought, "how could putting the lord first ever
get me in my mansion?"
For I had to have at least fourteen rooms, with
more room for expansion.
I just couldn't give my very first tenth, my second,
or my third.
"That way of thinking is out of date, that's written in God's
Word."
"For no one back in Bible times had mortgage and truck payments.
They
never signed the "bottom line" or balanced their bank statements.
They
didn't wear designer clothes, or pay a cable bill.
So how could Jesus ever
know how modern debt can feel?"
Then I recalled words taught to me at the
early age of seven.
"Put not up treasures here on earth, but store them up
in heaven;
where moths and rust don't take their toll, and thieves don't steal
away
Materialistic things that control our very lives today.
" Now
having tried, I do believe that these two things are true.
When you give unto
the Lord, it all comes back to you
And maybe Jesus wouldn't buy trendy clothes
that fit just right.
I think that he'd prefer to see us dressed in robes of white.
So
when we're facing all those bills, and collectors come to call,
We should remember
Jesus paid the greatest debt of all.
So many people, I regret, just never
come to know
That what he paid was all our debt;
A bill He did not owe!
