Obey God's law Deuteronomy 13:3-4 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. {4} Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. 1 John 5:2-3 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. {3} For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. Lack of such love strongly rebuked 1 Corinthians 16:22 If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha. 3. Love for other Christians A. The command for such love Commanded by God 1 John 4:21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. 2 John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. Commanded by Jesus John 13:34-35 A new commandment 2I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. {35} By this shall all <men> know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Assures of eternal life 1 John 3:14-15 We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not <his> brother abideth in death. {15} Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Builds the church 1 Corinthians 8:1 Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. Ephesians 4:15-16 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, <even> Christ: {16} From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
